An Introduction to Me... Ash
Just a writer, standing in front of a reader, asking them to love her.
Well, hello there. Ash here! Nice to meet you :)
[This is sort of my universal introduction, apologies if you’ve heard it before.]
As an introvert, mastering a personal introduction isn’t quite in my wheelhouse, especially when it involves the vast expanse of the internet. I mean, who do I practice this with? My reflection? My dog? An unsuspecting barista?
I'm a writer, creator, and enthusiast of all things movies and TV. My fingers are always ready to weave stories, and my heart? Well, it's the Hugh Grant of emotions, stumbling over its eagerness to share my words with charming, awkward grace.
And just like the lovable, often messy characters I can't get enough of, I’m a whole medley of quirks and passions. Every word I write, every line, every plot twist? It's all drawn from the story that is me.
In the ever-changing narrative of life, I believe in tearing out the old pages and crafting new ones. I'm all about the rewrite—breaking things down just to build them back up, only better. But while my tales stand under the limelight for all to see, I might linger in the shadows for a bit. Will I ever step fully into that spotlight? Well, let's just say that's a subplot still in development.
The Friday Club is a place where I catalog the day-to-day and the might-be-momentous. It’s where you’ll find everything that catches my attention, for better or worse. From the fleeting thoughts that visit me in the shower to the latest films that have stolen my sleep, television shows that have become my new best friends, and the trials and tribulations of my writing process—you know, the glamorous life of someone who spends too much time arguing with fictional characters.
Amidst the movie marathons and creative how-tos, you'll also be subjected to my personal storytelling. Think of them as unofficial guides to the art of adulting when you're not quite sure you've got the hang of it. From the inner monologues of an introvert pretending to have extroverted days, to those 'Am I too old for this?' moments that hit you just before attempting something new. It's about the restarts, the do-overs, and the realizations that come with them, served up in stories where the moral is often 'Well, that didn’t go as planned.' Here, the mess-ups are as celebrated as the victories because honestly, tripping over your own feet is a form of progress, right?
Here you’ll find my methods for wrangling thoughts and to-dos into something resembling order, and my experiences in trying, and sometimes failing, to bring stories to life. I’ll be breaking down my philosophy on having less in order to experience more so we can all breathe a little easier and create a bit more freely. But it's also about the small victories, the simplicity of the day to day or the complexity of year to year, and acknowledging that sometimes, to truly find yourself, you have to get a little lost first.
It’s a mix, really. Expect tales of creative conquests, the kind that come with more sighs than high-fives, alongside the victories that feel like finding an extra fry at the bottom of the bag. It’s about peeling back the curtain on my life, my processes, how I see the world, the lessons learned along the way, and how I navigate the waters of creativity—often without a paddle.
But this channel isn’t just a showcase; it's a conversation. It’s a diary, a workshop, and a corner of the internet where the stories we’ll share, the community we’ll build, and the journey of discovery we’re on together will unfold.
Because, in the end, it’s the twists and turns, the quiet introspections, the occasional existential crises, and the loud, unapologetic celebrations of our shared humanity that make this all worthwhile. Celebrating the process, not just the highlight reel, is what we're here for.
So, welcome to The Friday Club… This is just the opening credits; the best is yet to come.
P.S. Yes, I know it’s Tuesday. Turns out, The Friday Club can’t be contained to just Fridays.
**The Friday Club is on the house for the first six weeks! After that, we'll switch to a paid subscription for those who want to stick around and keep this digital camaraderie alive.**
